Logic’s Founder

Jason Van Nest, founder and CEO of Logic Building Systems, is a Yale-trained architect, educator, and entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in the architecture industry. His illustrious career includes designing housing and innovative architectural solutions for prestigious firms in New York, New Haven, Atlanta, and Key West.

Jason’s expertise in modular construction has been honed through more than half a decade of advising firms in the hospitality sector and in documenting groundbreaking research at New York Tech (NYIT), where he holds tenure as an Associate Professor of Architecture and serves as President of the Academic Senate.

Jason’s academic background includes a Master of Architecture from Yale University and a Bachelor of Architecture from Georgia Tech. His commitment to solving the housing crisis is deeply personal, driven by his belief in the need for affordable, high-quality housing. His work with Habitat for Humanity in Atlanta, where he has helped build over fifty homes, underscores his dedication to community service and his desire to make a tangible impact on the future of housing.

As a professor at NYIT, Jason’s perspective on the future of architecture both informs and is informed by his approach to creating sustainable and efficient building systems. His leadership at Logic is underpinned by a deep understanding of how evolving technologies are transforming architectural practices, particularly in simulation and representation.

At Logic, Jason applies his extensive experience to revolutionize the construction industry by transferring significant components of projects to a manufacturing setting. This method creates best-in-class modular units that seamlessly integrate sustainability with efficiency. Jason’s proven track record in driving innovation and his commitment to re-skilling and training a new workforce are compelling to customers, collaborators, and investors who want to evolve the way we build housing.

Logic combines Jason’s passion for architecture, technology, and education to drive innovation and excellence in modular construction, addressing both environmental and economic challenges and setting new standards for the industry.

“The Logic experiment, with Jason’s leadership, is unlike anything I’ve helped realize in my 30 years of modular industry. Jason continues to push the boundaries of what is possible–not only from one company’s point of view, but in regularly asking, ‘Will this drive change throughout the modular space?’”
